Common factors evidenced in vibrant faith communities?
Here is my short list of the "common factors" evidenced in vibrant faith communities, based on 30 years of observation in 3 denominations:
Evangelism is practiced as sacred story-listening - for fresh & local evidences of God's Presence & Activity
Prayerful and strategic leadership that actually "leads" with a public sense of urgency and accountability.
Joyful ministry organized around teams that build appreciatively on the strengths of each member
Demonstrated commitment to nurturing significant relationships inside and outside
Quality of worship is assessed on its tendency to equip and transform both newcomers and leaders
Hosting sacred conversations is elevated to an art form
The community's life focuses on engagement with God's mission through strengths-based ministry development
A preference for decision-making processes that lead to commitment (instead of agreement)
Stewardship is treated as a "whole being" way of bringing our resources to join God's mission in the world
